Honeybee Swarms

Honeybee swarms can be alarming, but they are a natural part of a bee colony’s life cycle. Swarming bees are not aggressive, but they should be handled by professionals to ensure their safe relocation.

Honeybee Swarm Removal

As well as pest controllers, we’re also beekeepers and have a healthy number of beehives. We never kill bees and would encourage you to contact your local beekeeping association for swarm retrieval which you can find here www.bbka.org.uk

We do offer a swarm removal service, but as we’re a private company and removals can take two visits in one day, mostly at dusk for the second visit we must charge for this service. Once collected, the bees will go to a site away from other bees for a period to ensure they’re not carrying any diseases that could spread to other colonies.

If the colony comes through the quarantine period then they will be introduced into a new apiary and you’ll receive an update at that point and some honey once extracted.

Keeping bees is extremely expensive with hives costing hundreds of pounds each with frames, foundation, feed, disease control, & nucs to house the bees temporarily. Time is also a major factor with making hives, frames, inspections (weekly during summer) and travelling. So, the price we charge doesn’t cover the cost of all what we have to pay out, but it goes some way in reducing our costs which we hope you’ll understand.
